Neurofeedback & EMDR For
Military Veterans

At Wellspring Brain Care, we specialize in healing brain-based trauma for U.S. military veterans. Unlike traditional talk-only therapy, our approach uses neurofeedback and EMDR to work directly with the brain’s natural rhythms. This combination helps address combat-related PTSD, depression, anxiety and even traumatic brain injury at the source.

We combine cutting-edge science with an understanding of military service and its challenges.

Veterans using home neurofeedback devices have reported significantly reduced PTSD symptoms, pain, depression and sleep problems after a few months of training EMDR reprocesses traumatic memories so they lose their emotional charge. Importantly, the U.S. Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs identify EMDR as a top treatment for trauma.

Wellspring Brain Care is uniquely qualified to serve the military community.

We are a veteran-owned practice (certified by the Florida Association of Veteran-Owned Businesses), and our clinicians hold national credentials in neurofeedback and trauma therapy. Our team includes BCIA-certified neurofeedback specialists, and our practice listing even shows “Veterans, Trauma and PTSD” as our top specialties.

Our Services

1

Wellspring Insight™
Brain Map

Every recovery journey starts with understanding your unique brain profile. We conduct a quantitative EEG (“brain map”) to identify patterns of brainwave dysregulation caused by trauma or stress. This personalized map shows which brain regions need attention and guides the rest of your care plan.

2

Wellspring Brain Training™
In-Office and At-Home

Using your brain map as a guide, we design a customized neurofeedback program. In sessions you’ll use real-time feedback (often a game or visual display) connected to your brainwaves. By learning to self-regulate these signals, you gradually train your brain toward healthier patterns. This gentle, science-backed approach promotes better brain regulation and resilience, and many patients report finding it easier to manage PTSD, feel less pain and depression, and sleep better .

Is Neurofeedback or EMDR
right for veterans like you?

Both therapies have helped many veterans reclaim their lives after service. You might benefit if you notice any of the following:

Progress Beyond Talk Therapy:

If you’ve tried traditional counseling but still feel stuck, neurofeedback can provide a dynamic next step. It directly trains the brain and can produce meaningful, lasting change beyond what words alone can achieve. EMDR builds on therapy by targeting the trauma itself; it can free you from painful memories even when talking hasn’t helped.

Struggling with PTSD, Anxiety, or Depression:

Combat stress, explosive violence and years of military service can leave lasting effects. Neurofeedback works at the root of these issues by improving brain regulation and emotional balance. Likewise, EMDR guides your brain to reprocess combat memories and the emotions attached to them. It “allows your brain to let go of emotional pain” tied to trauma, often relieving PTSD, anxiety and depression.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Pain:

Many veterans live with headaches, memory problems or chronic pain from concussive injuries and service-related wounds. Neurofeedback has been shown to help in these cases: in one veteran study, participants with TBI and PTSD reported lower pain intensity and fewer PTSD symptoms after neurofeedback training. By stabilizing brainwave patterns, neurofeedback can improve focus and reduce headaches. EMDR may also indirectly lessen pain by reducing trauma-related stress.

High Performance & Transition:

Veterans don’t stop performing after active duty – many seek peak cognitive function for jobs or athletics. Neurofeedback can sharpen focus, reduce stress and elevate performance under pressure. EMDR helps remove mental/emotional blocks (such as guilt or fear from combat), so you can move forward confidently and use your skills to the fullest.

Holistic, Drug-Free Healing:

If you want a natural, integrative path to wellness, both of these therapies fit. Neurofeedback is non-invasive and science-drivenwellspringbraincare.com, requiring only that you watch feedback and learn self-regulation. EMDR is a psychotherapy that involves no medication – it relies on your own mind’s processing power. Together, they address the mind-body connection without new drugs.

Personalized Care

We're a Safe Space for Veteran Support

At Wellspring Brain Care, you’ll always be treated with respect, understanding and privacy. We know many veterans feel hesitant or vulnerable when seeking help – we take that seriously. You can expect a trauma-informed environment: for example, EMDR lets you control the process and even pause anytime, and we maintain a calm, scent-free clinic to avoid sensory triggers.

Our care is fully customized. We listen to your story and create a plan just for you. Whether you’re seen individually, with your spouse, or in a group, we honor your military experiences in how we work together. Being veteran-owned (FAVOB-certified) and with BCIA-certified neurofeedback providers, we combine professional expertise with genuine understanding of military life. We also provide clear education so you always know what to expect. In short, we bring the highest standards of neurofeedback and EMDR care and a deep commitment to the veteran community.

FAQs

Q: Can neurofeedback or EMDR really help veterans with PTSD?

A: Yes. EMDR is officially “strongly recommended” by VA/DoD clinical guidelines for treating PTSD. Research also supports neurofeedback: in controlled studies, it has produced moderate to large reductions in PTSD symptoms. For example, a trial with veterans showed significant drops in PTSD scores, pain, depression and sleep issues after regular EEG neurofeedback. These therapies target the neural roots of trauma and often help where conversation alone has not.

Q: Is Wellspring Brain Care veteran-friendly and credentialed?

A: Absolutely. We’re proud to be a veteran-owned practice (we’re listed in the Florida Association of Veteran-Owned Businesses directory). Our clinical team specializes in military-related care related to trauma and PTSD. All our providers meet high professional standards. For example, our neurofeedback therapists hold BCIA certification and our EMDR clinicians have advanced trauma training. We welcome active-duty, reserve and retired personnel, as well as their families. Our goal is to combine rigorous expertise with deep respect and understanding of military experience.

Q: What happens in a neurofeedback session?
A: Neurofeedback is simple and non-invasive. You’ll sit in a chair with small sensors on your head that monitor your brainwaves (like an EEG). A computer gives you real-time feedback (often a video, game or sound) that responds to your brain activity. By trying to get the feedback to change (for example, keeping a game character flying smoothly), you learn to produce healthier brainwave patterns. It feels engaging and completely painless. Over time, this trains your brain to be calmer and more balanced, which can improve focus, mood and stress resilience.

Q: How does EMDR therapy work for combat trauma? Do I have to talk about my experience?

A: EMDR therapy involves you focusing on a specific traumatic memory while following rhythmic bilateral stimulation (like side-to-side eye movements or tapping). This process helps the brain reprocess the memory so it loses its distressing effect. A key benefit is you do not need to describe every detail of the trauma. You remain in control, can stop at any time, and typically find the memory becoming less upsetting even without intense talking. Many veterans appreciate this as EMDR is known for achieving deep relief often in just a few sessions.

Q: How many sessions will I need, and when will I feel better?

A: It varies by individual. Many veterans start to notice changes in the first few weeks of neurofeedback and EMDR. In studies, significant gains were often seen after a few months of regular sessions.

EMDR treatment of a single trauma can sometimes resolve a memory in 3–6 sessions, with follow-ups to build resilience. In practice, we tailor the program to your pace and give you an estimated timeline after evaluation. Consistency is key: for lasting change, think in terms of several weeks to months of therapy rather than a one-time visit.

We look forward to being a part of your wellness journey!
